Who's Practicing, Who's Not vs. Minnesota Vikings

The Ravens had a crowded injury report as they began the week of preparation for Sunday's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

In addition to the 16 players on injured reserve, Baltimore had 14 players listed on the injury report.

Here's the full rundown on the injury front:

B. Williams Practices Again

The Ravens received some reinforcements in the middle of their defense.

Defensive tackle Brandon Williams practiced as a full participant after missing the last four games with a foot injury. Williams first returned to practice on Friday, and having him on the field to begin the week is an encouraging sign.

"It feels good," Williams said. "I'm trying to get back, trying to feel like I never left."

Williams and have Ravens have been mum on the details regarding the injury, and he didn't give a clear indication about whether he expects to play Sunday against Minnesota. He stressed that he has to see how the foot responds day by day.

The Ravens are certainly eager to get Williams back on the field. He's one of the team's best defenders, particularly against the run, and that's an area where they could use some help after allowing a franchise record 231 rushing yards last week to Chicago.

"I'm just a guy who's working to get back on the field," Williams said. "That's all I'm doing. Today it felt good. I have two more days to go and hopefully I'll be back soon."

The Ravens also got defensive tackle Carl Davis back on the field as a full participant after he missed last week's game with a thigh issue. Davis had filled in for Williams in the starting lineup before getting hurt in Oakland.

J. Maclin a Limited Participant, B. Perriman Sits

Veteran receiver Jeremy Maclin was a surprise scratch Sunday because of a shoulder injury that limited him in practice last week. The Ravens missed his presence in the lineup, as the passing game wasn't able to get into a rhythm all day.

Maclin told reporters he wouldn't get into details about how close he was to playing, and he was a* *limited participant again Wednesday.

"I wanted to play, and we came to the conclusion that me playing probably wasn't the smartest thing," Maclin said. "You just trust the doctors. When they sit up there and they tell you that they think it's probably not best for you to play, that's kind of what you go with."

Maclin's replacement in the starting lineup, Breshad Perriman, didn't practice Wednesday because he's in concussion protocol. Perriman suffered the concussion on a hit that led to an interception, and the Ravens turned the play into the NFL for review because the receiver took a blow to the head on his way to the ground.

If the concussion keeps Perriman sidelined, the Ravens would likely turn to Chis Moore or Michael Campanaro to see increased snaps.

M. Canady Return to Practice

Second-year cornerback Maurice Canady returned to the practice field Wednesday for the first time since suffering a knee injury in training camp.

Canady was one of the most impressive players during offseason workouts and the early part of training camp before getting injuries. Wednesday was the first day he was eligible to practice.

The Ravens placed him on injured reserve (IR) at the start of the season, but they can select two players to pull off IR to put back on the 53-man squad. The expectation is to use those spots on Canady and veteran running back Danny Woodhead.

Canady can practice for three weeks before the Ravens have to decide whether to activate him or keep him on season-ending injured reserve. He can't be moved to the active roster until next week's matchup with the Dolphins.

J. Smith Rests Again, Hill Fully Participates for First Time

Adding another capable cornerback in the defensive backfield is always a good sign, and that could be particularly helpful as Jimmy Smith continues to deal with Achilles tendonitis.

Smith has missed practice time over the last three weeks because of the injury, and he did not participant Wednesday. The injury hasn't forced Smith to miss any games, and he did see an increase in his snaps Sunday against Chicago.

The Ravens are playing it safe with Smith during the week to make sure he gets enough rest and is ready to play at a high level on gameday.

Meanwhile, undrafted rookie cornerback Jaylen Hill (thigh) was a full practice participant for the first time this season.

M. Williams, B. Watson Miss Practice

Tight end Maxx Williams returned to the lineup last week after missing the previous three games with an ankle injury.

But he left his first game back after a play where he fumbled and re-injured the ankle. He did not practice Wednesday.

Veteran tight end Benjamin Watson (knee) also didn't practice. Watson has also missed practice time this year with a calf injury, but the 36-year-old tight end has not missed any game action.

Stanley Misses Practice With Mouth Injury

Left tackle Ronnie Stanley (mouth) was among those absent from practice. Right guard Matt Skura (knee) also didn't practice as he continues to recover from a knee injury suffered against the Oakland Raiders in Week 5.

The other players absent from practice were running back Terrance West (calf) and outside linebacker Tim Williams (thigh). Both West and Williams didn't play against the Bears.

The other injury of note is that wide receiver Mike Wallace (back) was a limited participant.

Vikings Undecided on Quarterback

The Vikings have some injury concerns of their own, most notably at quarterback where Sam Bradford has been sidelined with a knee issue. He hasn't played a full game since suffering the injury in the season opener, and he didn't practice Wednesday.

Case Keenum has started in Bradford's place since the injury, but Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer hasn't declared a starter for this week.

"We'll see. Bradford is feeling a lot better," Zimmer said. "We'll see how it goes throughout the rest of the week."

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater also returned to practice Wednesday after being sidelined the last year and a half because of a knee injury. It's unlikely that he will be ready to play Sunday after just three practices.

The other big injury question for Minnesota is the status of wide receiver Stefon Diggs. He missed last week's game because of a groin injury and didn't practice Wednesday. Linebacker Anthony Barr (concussion/ankle), wide receiver Michael Floyd (hamstring) and guard Nick Easton (calf) also didn't practice for Minnesota.
